Cyclist Killed in Collision on SR-1 in Moss Beach
Moss Beach, CA (October 6, 2022) – Police arrested 43-year-old Vincent Qualls following a deadly accident that occurred on Highway 1, the Daily Journal reported.
On September 28, Qualls was behind the wheel of a truck traveling south on the highway in Moss Beach. Preliminary investigation revealed Qualls had a puppy on his lap while driving on SR-1. Officials said the puppy fell off the seat, and Qualls then leaned down to grab it.
The article published online mentioned the truck crossed the double yellow lines and careened to the direction of the cyclist. Earlier reports indicated the truck continued driving until it struck the man riding a bike.
Responding paramedics sadly pronounced the cyclist dead.
Meanwhile, detectives stayed at the scene the whole morning to gather information surrounding the unfortunate event. Authorities charged Vincent Qualls with felony vehicular manslaughter.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
