
1 Killed in Vine Hill Crash on Highway 4 Near Interstate 680
VINE HILL, CA (May 18, 2023) – A crash killed at least one person on Highway 4 near the Interstate 680 in Vine Hill.
UPDATE: Victim killed in Highway 4 crash identified
According to an article published by the East Bay Times, the tragic accident took place on Thursday evening. Officers reported the wreck on May 18 shortly after 5:50 p.m.
The incident happened when at least three vehicles collided for an unknown reason in the Vine Hil area of Contra Costa County.
The cars crashed on eastbound Highway 4 just west of the on-ramp from northbound Interstate 680. The California Highway Patrol said two vehicles obtained heavy damage upon impact.
Multiple Vehicles Collide
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They found one individual who sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then rushed the victim to a hospital, where they died. The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the eastbound lanes of Highway 4 to shut down for a time following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Vine Hill crash is still under investigation.
