1 Killed, 1 Badly Injured in Visalia Crash at Mooney Boulevard and Walnut Avenue
VISALIA, CA (April 21, 2021) – A car crash killed one person and badly injured another at Mooney Boulevard and Walnut Avenue in Visalia.
According to the FOX 26 News and ABC 30 News, the tragic accident occurred early Wednesday. Officers reported the wreck at around 3 a.m.
The incident happened when a Honda Pilot was traveling west on Walnut Avenue, approaching Mooney Boulevard in Visalia. At the same time, a Chevy Colorado was going south on Mooney.
Driver Runs Red Light, Hits Another Car
Police said the SUV ran a red light at the intersection and then broadsided the pickup truck. Firefighters along with the paramedics responded and pronounced the motorist in the Chevy dead at the scene.
Medical personnel took the female driver of the Honda to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, police believed that speed played a role in the collision. Officials forced the intersection to close for several hours following the wreck.
The fatal Visalia crash is still under investigation.
