Teenager Killed in Head-On Collision Near Marlin Avenue
Visalia, CA (July 22, 2022) – A 14-year-old boy died following a traffic accident that occurred on State Route Highway 63 Friday morning.
The Fresno Bee published an article online reporting two vehicles collided head-on on SR-63 near Marlin Avenue. Preliminary investigation revealed a 15-year-old was driving an allegedly stolen 2005 Chevrolet Silverado traveling on the highway in Visalia.
For reasons still unclear, the driver of the Silverado allowed the truck to veer onto the west shoulder of the highway. The 15-year-old motorist then overcorrected, and ended up traveling into the opposite traffic lanes. Officials said the Silverado slammed head-on into a Chevrolet Traverse. After the crash, at least one vehicle careened and crashed into a parked big rig.
Deadly Car Accident on Highway 63 in Visalia
Shortly after 7:40 p.m., rescue teams arrived at the site. Responding paramedics found a male passenger ejected from the Silverado. Despite life-saving measures performed by medical personnel, the 14-year-old boy sadly succumbed to his injuries and died. Personal information on the fatal victim remained undisclosed pending confirmation.
Authorities added a 14-year-old female passenger in the Silverado; and a 27-year-old man in the SUV, both sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. Emergency crews transported the two patients to Kaweah Delta Medical Center for treatment and further evaluation.
Several factors surrounding the unfortunate event have not been revealed thus far. At this time, detectives continue to investigate the precise cause of the fatal crash on Highway 63 in Visalia.
