Oceanside Woman Killed; 4 Others Injured
VISTA, Calif. (August 6, 2018) — A 33-year-old Oceanside woman identified as Dalila Perez, 33, died in a multi-vehicle collision Sunday morning on the westbound state Route 78 at Mar Vista Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal chain-reaction crash took place about 2:16 a.m. The CHP report stated that the woman allegedly drove her Toyota Corolla off the roadway to the right side and then veered left across traffic. She reportedly struck the center divider and was thrown out of her vehicle and died at the scene.
Meanwhile, a 54-year-old man driving a Scion XB struck the Toyota and this pushed the vehicle onto its side. He suffered major injuries and was taken to a hospital.
The vehicle was also struck by a 38-year-old man driving a Scion XC. This man and his two passengers were transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
Police are investigating whether or not both the 38-year-old man and the 54-year-old man had been driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, CHP said.
Traffic Accident Investigation
At this time, we do not know who is responsible for this fatal crash. There could be multiple parties held liable for the injuries to drivers and passengers, and or the death of the woman.
