Police Patrol Car Broadsided by Toyota on Santa Fe Avenue
VISTA, Calif. (July 5, 2018) — A sheriff’s deputy responding to help a pedestrian hit by a truck, was broadsided by a vehicle at North Santa Fe Avenue at Vista Village Drive, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The incident was reported about 11:04 p.m. on the Fourth of July. The deputy was reportedly traveling southbound on North Santa Fe Avenue with his sirens on and lights flashing when his patrol car was struck broadside by a 2000 Toyota RAV4 SUV. The Toyota had been headed eastbound on Villa Vista Drive when the two vehicles collided. The 44-year-old man driving the Toyota suffered minor injuries. His children ages 8 and 11 years old, who were in the vehicle, also suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Paramedics responded to treat all those who were hurt, but none were taken to a hospital.

At this time, we do not know whether the police deputy or the driver in the Toyota is going to be deemed at fault for this collision.
