One Injured, 5 Students Unharmed in School Bus Crash
VISTA, Calif. (June 20, 2024) — A Vista Unified School District bus and a an SUV were involved in an accident Thursday on Monte Vista Drive at Lita Lane in Vista.
The collision occurred at around 7:52 a.m. on June 20th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported five students were board the bus at the time of the collision with a green Toyota 4-Runner SUV. Fortunately, none of the students reported injuries at the crash scene, but the driver of the SUV was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters, the report said.
“We are thankful to report that all students and the bus driver were unharmed and safe,” the Vista Unified School District wrote on its website. “The students were quickly assessed by medical personnel as a precautionary measure, and no injuries were reported.”
It’s unknown what led up to the collision, but it happened at a curve in the roadway. There are double yellow lines and there is a stop sign only posted for vehicles entering Monte Vista Drive from Lita Lane.
The vehicles were towed from the scene and investigators are working to determine fault for the school bus accident on Monte Vista Drive.
