Vivian Nguyen, Alberto Soriano Killed on 57 Freeway in Pomona
POMONA, Calif. (Nov. 4, 2020) -Alberto Soriano, 26, and Vivian Nguyen, 19, were both killed early Tuesday in a crash involving an SUV and a big rig truck Orange (57) Freeway in Pomona.
A third person was injured in the crash and taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.
The crash took place about 3:35 a.m. near the Temple Avenue exit, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP report stated that a red Chevrolet Suburban SUV veered off the southbound freeway and crashed into the back of the parked semi-truck. The truck was parked on the right shoulder of the freeway. The SUV was smoking after the crash and suffered major front-end damage. Three people were riding in the SUV at the time of the crash. The vehicle was stuck underneath the truck and partially sticking out into the No. 4 lane.
Later at 5:45 a.m., Caltrans stated that two people had been killed in the crash. Additionally, they closed down the Nos. 2, 3 and 4 southbound lanes near the scene until further notice.
The victims were identified by the Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner.
