Major Injury Merced County Crash Involving a Cow
LOS BANOS, Calif. (March 14, 2022) — Two people suffered major injuries in separate collisions with the same cow at Ingomar Grade Road and Fahey Road in Volta, just north of Los Banos.
The initial crash happened about 5:48 a.m. on March 14th in Merced County, according to the California Highway Patrol. A motorist struck a cow in the middle of the roadway, killing the cow and leaving the occupant of the SUV with major injuries. The SUV overturned onto its roof during the crash. A car also hit the cow and suffered major front-end damage.
Paramedics responded to the scene to transport two people with major injuries to a hospital. One person had a head injury and the other had an arm injury, the report said.
Meanwhile, the cow and the vehicles were removed from the roadway following the collision.
Investigators will determine fault for the crash on Ingomar Grade Road.
