Multi-Vehicle Walnut Creek Car Crash
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (July 1, 2021) — A Walnut Creek car accident on the Interstate 680 Freeway Thursday morning left at least one person with injuries.
The crash happened about 2:05 a.m. on July 1st on the northbound I-680 Freeway at Treat Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The drivers of at least four vehicles collided due to unknown circumstances.
Shortly after the crash the driver of one vehicle was located on the right shoulder unconscious, police said. The CHP requested two ambulances due to reports of injuries. Paramedics transported the injured to John Muir Health, Walnut Creek Medical Center.
Vehicles blocked several lanes including the No. 4 and No. 1 lane.
Tow trucks removed at least two vehicles from the Walnut Creek car accident site.
Meanwhile, investigators seek to determine the cause of the crash and liability. The CHP report indicates that alcohol and or drugs may be a factor in the collision.
