Multi-Vehicle Collision at I-680 Freeway On Ramp

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (May 20, 2024) — A multi-vehicle crash in Walnut Creek happened Monday morning at the Ygnacio Valley Road on ramp to the southbound Interstate 680 Freeway.

The traffic accident occurred at around 7:33 a.m. on May 20th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The drivers of a silver SUV, a white sedan and a blue SUV were involved and blocking the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes of the freeway on ramp. The blue SUV was facing the wrong way in the center divider after the collision.

Paramedics responded to help at least one person with injuries, but there are no further details at this time.

Meanwhile, tow trucks removed the Ford SUV due to major front-end damage and the small SUV had major rear-end damage, the report said. Also, the collision resulted in damage to the guardrail and a sign.

Investigators are working to determine fault for the Walnut Creek crash at the 680 Freeway on ramp.
