Walnut Creek: Deadly Tesla Car Accident on Interstate 680

1 Killed, Several Injured in Collision Near Treat Boulevard

Walnut Creek, CA (February 18, 2023) – A man driving a Tesla car died following a traffic crash that occurred on the Interstate 680 Freeway Saturday, February 18.

The KRON4 and ABC10 News reported the sedan was heading north on the freeway in East Bay. When the Tesla car approached the area near Treat Boulevard, the driver failed to slow down for a fire truck blocking lanes from a previous accident.

Our sources indicated the Tesla slammed into the parked fire truck. The force from the impact resulted in significant damage to the car, leaving one passenger trapped.

Fatal Car Crash on Interstate 680 in Walnut Creek

Shortly after 4 a.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. First responders found the driver of the Tesla unconscious. Despite life-saving measures performed by paramedics, the driver sadly succumbed to their injuries and passed away at the scene. Officials added the passenger had to be extricated, then transported to a local hospital for treatment of major injuries.

Four firefighters were also taken to the hospital for evaluation.

At this time, detectives continue to investigate the precise cause of the deadly accident that happened on Interstate 680 in Walnut Creek.
