Republique Restaurant Owner Hit by Car on Pico Boulevard at Beverly Drive
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 26, 2020) — Walter Manzke, the owner of the popular Republique restaurant in Hancock Park, was struck by a car Wednesday on Pico Boulevard in Beverlywood.
The restaurateur and well-known chef was in front of his newest business, Bicyclette restaurant, which is about to open in Beverlywood, according to a report by CBS 2 Los Angeles.
Walter Manzke was seriously injured when he was hit in the 9500 block of Pico Boulevard, near Beverly Drive. The involved driver stopped and is cooperating with police and the investigation into what happened.
Manzke, and his wife Margarita, are expecting to open the new restaurant this spring.
The injuries Manzke is being treated were serious and included collapsed lungs, broken ribs, a fractured collarbone and cuts and scrapes to his face, according to an article in Eater LA.
