2 Pickups in Head-on Crash on Elkhorn Road
WATSONVILLE, Calif. (Nov. 16, 2021) — A Watsonville crash on Elkhorn Road between two pickup trucks Tuesday morning resulted in major injuries.
The head-on collision happened at 7:02 a.m. on Nov. 16th, just north of Werner Road, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.
The traffic accident took place amid heavy fog in the area. The impact was so great that the silver Ford and the green pickup trucks became stuck together in the middle of the roadway. Both vehicles suffered major front-end damage and required tow trucks to remove them from the roadway.
Meanwhile, one person became trapped in the wreckage and suffered major injuries. Paramedics transported the person to a local hospital to treat broken bones, police said.
A second person managed to get out of their vehicle without assistance. That person had minor injuries and complaints of pain, but declined an ambulance.
Meanwhile, police closed down Elkhorn Road and diverted traffic onto Salinas Road until they cleared the roadway.
