WATSONVILLE, California — According to a California Highway Patrol dispatch, a fatal traffic collision occurred on San Miguel Canyon late Tuesday night.
The accident took place at 11:21 p.m. involving a Honda and a Nissan Sentra.
Per the Monterey Herald, Bryan Garcia, 20, was the driver of the Honda headed southbound on San Miguel Canyon. For unknown reasons, he veered into northbound lanes directly into the path of the Nissan driven by Elizabeth Gutierrez.
Garcia had two passengers accompanying him, a man and a woman. Jennifer Barajas, 17, sadly did not survive the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Garcia’s second passenger suffered major injuries to his face and legs and was rushed to a trauma center.
Elizabeth Gutierrez was seriously hurt as well with injuries to her face, head, and legs. She was rushed to a hospital following the collision and is currently in serious condition.
