1 Killed, 2 Injured in Watsonville Crash on Highway 1 and Riverside Drive
WATSONVILLE, CA (November 20, 2021) – A head-on crash killed one person and injured two others on Highway 1 and Riverside Drive in Watsonville.
According to The Pajaronian and KION News, the tragic accident took place on Saturday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at around 2 p.m.
The incident began when a gold Chevy Cavalier was going west on Riverside Drive crossing over the Highway 1 in Watsonville. For an unknown reason, the car swerved out of its lane.
The California Highway Patrol said the Chevy then slammed head-on into a white Ford Freestar minivan. Both vehicles obtained major damage due to the impact of the collision.
2 Cars Collide Head-On
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and soon pronounced the 20-year-old man driving the Cavalier dead at the scene.
The two occupants of the Ford, a man and a woman, sustained minor injuries as a result of the wreck. Medical personnel provided treatment to both patients at the site.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, CHP forced the Riverside Drive Highway 1 overcrossing to shut down for hours after the incident.
The cause of the fatal Watsonville is still under investigation.
