Man, 62, Killed in Watts Hit-and-Run Near Central Avenue and 112th Street
LOS ANGELES, CA (September 18, 2021) – A pedestrian was killed after a hit-and-run crash near Central Avenue and 112th Street in Watts.
According to an article published by the KTLA News, the tragic accident took place late Friday night. Officers reported the collision at about 10:30 p.m.
The incident happened on September 17 when a male pedestrian was crossing Central Avenue in the Watts neighborhood. At the same time, a vehicle was going north.
Los Angeles police said for an unknown reason, the driver struck the 62-year-old man. Another motorist approached and then ran over the victim, just south of 112th Street.
Pedestrian Hit by Vehicles
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found the man lying on the ground. He sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the first driver who hit the man did not stop to help and fled the area. The second motorist stayed at the site and cooperated with the authorities.
Officers forced a stretch of Central Avenue near 112th Street to shut down for hours following the crash. The fatal Watts hit-and-run collision is still under investigation.
