Major Injury Hit-and-run Crash on Highway 299
WEAVERVILLE, Calif. (Sept. 14, 2023) — A major injury pedestrian accident happened Thursday at Main Street (State Route 299), just south of Trinity Lake Boulevard (Hwy 3).
The collision occurred around 12:51 p.m. on Sept. 14th, in front of the U-Haul store at Ransom Road, according to the California Highway Patrol report.
A driver struck a woman due to unknown circumstances. She was thrown into the air and landed on the westbound shoulder of the roadway, the report said. She was breathing after the collision, but suffered major injuries and it appears she was transported by ambulance to a hospital.
Meanwhile, witnesses told authorities the suspect’s vehicle continued traveling westbound without stopping to help the victim. The driver was reportedly speeding when they struck the woman.
Investigators are working on the case and searching for the suspect in the Weaverville pedestrian accident.
