Major Injury Motorcycle Crash on Highway 154
SANTA BARBARA (July 6, 2017)- According to the California Highway Patrol, a major injury collision took place Wednesday afternoon on San Marcos Pass Road also known as Highway 154 just east of Lakeview Drive.
The collision involved a motorcycle and a Jeep occurring at roughly 1:47 p.m.
Police officials relayed over to CHP dispatch that the motorcyclist who remains unidentified suffered major injuries following the crash. The victim was rushed by ambulance to a medical center in unknown condition.
Initially the report indicated that pedestrian was involved before updating the report log to a motorcyclist.
A third car may have also possibly been involved, however, that piece of information has could not be corroborated.
The cause of the accident remains unclear while both California Highway Patrol and Santa Barbara Sheriff officer personnel team up to investigate.
Based on this news report, there are still several unanswered questions here as liability remains in question. Was either driver under the influence of alcohol or drugs? Did excessive speed or distracted driving play a role? Was either driver negligent in any other way? These questions will be answered once authorities are finished with their accident analysis and formulate a police report.
