Girl Killed in West Covina DUI Hit-and-Run Crash Neat Azusa and Fairgrove
WEST COVINA, CA (August 30, 2021) – A DUI hit-and-run crash killed a girl near Azusa and Fairgrove avenues in West Covina.
According to an article published by the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the tragic accident took place on Sunday evening. Officers reported the collision at about 7:36 p.m.
The incident happened on August 29 when a vehicle struck the girl for an unknown reason. The car hit her near the intersection of Azusa and Fairgrove avenues in West Covina.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and then found the victim left lying unresponsive on the ground as a result of the collision.
Victim Hit by Drunk Teen Driver
Medical personnel soon pronounced the teenage girl dead at the scene. The name of the deceased party remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the male teen driver did not stop to help the victim and fled the area. They later found the suspect and determined that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
Officers arrested the young motorist on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, hit-and-run resulting in death or injury, and DUI.
The fatal West Covina DUI hit-and-run crash is still under investigation. Officials forced the intersection of Azusa and Fairgrove avenues to shut down for hours following the collision.
