Wrong-Way Driver Killed, Another Injured in 10 Freeway Car Accident

DATE OF COLLISION: Monday, December 24th
December 26, 2018 – One person was killed, and another was injured after two vehicles collided on the Interstate 10 Freeway Monday morning, according to Daily Bulletin.
Primary reports indicated an unidentified female driver veered into the eastbound lanes while going west. The 1997 Honda Civic ultimately crashed into a Mazda CX5 near the Citrus Avenue ramp.
Deadly Car Crash Monday in West Covina
Paramedics said the woman heading the wrong way suffered fatal injuries as a result of the accident. Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner Investigator identified the deceased as 54-year-old Margarita Vargas.
Authorities added the male driver of the SUV was hospitalized for treatment of unknown extent of injuries following the collision. The name of the patient has not been disclosed thus far.
Responding police shut down all four lanes at Citrus Avenue and reopened them around 5:30 a.m. Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
