WEST HOLLYWOOD (August 7, 2018) – A sheriff’s deputy was hospitalized after an alleged hit-and-run crash at Formosa and Fountain avenues on Friday, August 3, according to KTLA.

As per the article, police said an off-duty Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy was riding a motorcycle when he was struck by a vehicle.

The deputy was left with injuries that were considered as non-life-threatening. He was then taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he apparently underwent surgery on his foot.
The name and condition of the victim at this time remained unknown. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver involved did not stop render aid and fled after hitting the deputy.
The suspect car, possibly a BMW, had its bumper ripped off along with the license plate. Authorities are still gathering more information and evidence to locate the hit-and-run motorist.
Los Angeles County Personal Injury Lawyer
Most traffic accidents which involve a motorist who flees the scene can be subjected to serious criminal charges, especially when a particular crash causes serious injuries to another person. Such circumstances are likely considered as “felony hit-and-run,” leaving the victim a legal right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit against the suspect.
Drivers who are involved in car collisions are obliged to stop and provide assistance to the injured individuals and to cooperate with the authorities. In this case, the motorist took off and left the deputy wounded in the roadway. The county sheriff’s deputy has likely a right to pursue a claim seeking a compensation for all the hospital bills, future medical needs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
