Green Taxi Cab in Fatal Freeway Crash
WESTMINSTER, Calif. (Jan. 22, 2018) – A taxi driver and a passenger were killed Friday night when a green taxi cab veered off the northbound I-405 Freeway off ramp and crashed into a building, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash took place about 9:38 p.m. at the Golden West off ramp. The condition of a second passenger was not disclosed. Witnesses told police the vehicle was speeding prior to the collision, but the report does not state how many people were inside the taxi.
A temporary closure of the off ramp was conducted by police so they could investigate the collision.
Police are reviewing the circumstances that caused this collision to determine who was at fault. Investigators are seeking witnesses who saw the collision to help them. We do not know at this time whether or not there were passengers in the vehicle or if other vehicles were involved.
The loss of a loved one in a collision is not only a tragic loss, but there will also be a heavy financial toll on the surviving family members. This can compound the tragedy and make things much more difficult. There are often medical expenses, lost wages, property damage and funeral expenses. It’s also quite common for insurance companies to try and avoid paying out a claim or to offer far less than the full amount owed.
