Passenger Killed in Head-On Collision Near Whiskey Creek Road
Whiskeytown, CA (June 8, 2022) – One person died, and another suffered injuries following a traffic accident that occurred on Highway 299.
The KRCR News reported 57-year-old Charles French was behind the wheel of a Ford F-150 traveling east on SR-299. When the driver approached the area near Whiskey Creek Road, he crossed the double yellow lines for an unknown reason. The Ford careened into the opposite lane and ended up crashing head-on into a semi truck.
The force from the impact caused the semi to catch fire.
Shortly after 7:40 a.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. First responders found the female passenger in the pickup unconscious. Paramedics performed life-saving measures to the victim but she sadly succumbed to her injuries and died. Authorities continue to withhold the identity of the deceased pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Driver Hospitalized After Car Accident on Highway 299 in Whiskeytown
Authorities added French sustained major trauma as a result of the wreck. Medical personnel transported the patient to Mercy Medical Center in Redding for further treatment and evaluation.
Several factors surrounding the incident remained unclear. The California Highway Patrol group is the agency handling the investigation. Detectives continue to work to determine the precise cause of the collision on Highway 299 in Whiskeytown.
