San Juan Capistrano Woman, 35, Killed in PCH Pedestrian Accident
DANA POINT, Calif. (Nov. 5, 2018) — Whitney Daniels, 35, of San Juan Capistrano, died after she was struck by a vehicle on Pacific Coast Highway.
The collision took place on Saturday, Nov. 3, about 5:20 p.m. near Amber Lantern in Dana Point.
A 70-year-old driver who was headed northbound on PCH struck the woman, leaving her with traumatic injuries to her head and body, according to the Orange County Sheriffs Department Public Information Officer Carrie Braun.
Daniels was hospitalized and later she died of her injuries.
The man driving the vehicle was not under the influence. He stopped and cooperated with the police investigation into the fatal crash. PCH was closed between Ruby Lantern and Violet Lantern for roughly two and half hours.
The investigation is headed up by the OCSD Major Accident Reconstruction Team.
