Deputy, 31, Badly Injured in Whittier Car Accident at Pioneer and Saragosa
WHITTIER (December 21, 2018) – A deputy was badly injured after an alleged DUI crash in the area of Pioneer Boulevard and Saragosa Street Thursday night, according to Whittier Daily News and On Scene TV.
The accident took place on December 20 at approximately 8:25 p.m.
As per the reports, California Highway Patrol said 24-year-old Thomas Boulanger was driving a Chevrolet Silverado when he allegedly ran a stop sign.
The Washington resident then broad-sided a marked Crown Victoria Police Interceptor driven by a 31-year-old deputy at the intersection of Pioneer Boulevard and Saragosa street.
CHP affirmed that the deputy, who works at the Sheriff’s Pico Rivera station, was immediately transported to a hospital to be treated for moderate injuries.
Suspect Thomas Boulanger, 24, Arrested For DUI
The name and condition of the victim at this time remained unknown.
Meanwhile, Boulanger sustained minor wounds upon impact. His two passengers, 16-year-old and 17-year-old Kentucky Washington boys, were unharmed in the wreck.
Boulanger was determined to have been driving under the influence of alcohol when the incident occurred. He was ultimately arrested on suspicion of DUI.
The suspected drunk motorist is being held at the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles with a bail set at $100,000.
