WHITTIER, California (March 21, 2016) – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run collision in the area of Pickering Avenue and Hadley Street on Saturday night, according to CBS Los Angeles.(map)
Police said around 9 p.m., 58-year-old Victor Gallegos, of Whittier, was struck by a vehicle which was headed north on Pickering Avenue approaching Hadley Street.
The driver involved took off and left Gallegos who then died at the scene.
As per CBS Los Angeles, police affirmed that the suspect car, described as a white older-model Toyota pickup, was found abandoned in Hacienda Heights Sunday morning.
A report by NBC Los Angeles meanwhile indicated that police were searching for a person of interest, 30-year-old Randy Marquez, the owner of the pickup. Although it remained unclear if Marquez was driving his vehicle at the time.
