MADERA, California — A 2-car collision at Avenue 14 and Road 19 caused fatal trauma to Olson couple, and injuries to Guadalupe Gonzalez on February 7.
Madera County Coroner’s Office identified the couple as 86-year-old Wilbur H. Olson, and 83-year-old Lloyce F. Olson.
An article by Merced Sun-Star mentioned husband Wilbur was driving in a 2007 Ford Crown on the southbound of Road 19. While Gonzalez was traveling in a 2008 Ford F-350 pickup truck on the eastbound of Avenue 14.
For reasons still under investigation, Gonzalez struck the Olson’s passenger side at the intersection around 10:00 a.m. resulting in major damages to both vehicles.
The wife Lloyce was pronounced deceased at the scene, as per the article. While Wilbur suffered major injuries and was flown to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. On the same day, Wilbur died just before 2 p.m. at the hospital, according to California Highway Patrol officers.
On the other hand, 61-year-old Gonzalez suffered minor injuries and was taken to Madera Community Hospital as a precaution following the collision.
Further investigation is underway to determine charges and liabilities.
