Las Vegas Man Killed In Multi-vehicle Crash By McClure Tunnel
SANTA MONICA, Calif. (August 25, 2021) – Wilfred Madrid, 58, of Las Vegas, died August 14th in an 8-vehicle collision near the McClure Tunnel on the Interstate 10 Freeway in Santa Monica.
The deadly, multi-vehicle crash happened about 5:46 p.m. on August 14th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner identified Wilfred Madrid on its website.
Authorities with the CHP report that the victim was speeding prior to the collision. Wilfred Madrid was driving a 2015 Land Rover when it collided with a 2021 Tesla and a 2009 Infiniti. The Infiniti subsequently collided with a 2016 Dodge. Additionally, the Land Rover collided with a 2019 Kia that overturned and crashed into a 2018 Jeep. The Jeep collided with a Honda and a Toyota, police said.
The Santa Monica Fire Department respo9nded and transported the 29-year-old Santa Monica woman from the Jeep to a hospital. Doctors treated her for major injuries. Also, two passengers from the Infiniti suffered minor injuries. These two victims were also taken to a hospital for further treatment.
Investigators will determine fault for the multi-vehicle crash.
