William Ainsworth Killed, William Ainsworth Jr. Injured in Car Crash on Highway 1521 Dead, Several Injured in Car and Truck Crash at Highway 152 and Palm Avenue

Merced, CA (October 5, 2021) – 64-year-old William Ainsworth died, and 38-year-old William Ainsworth Jr. suffered injuries following a traffic collision that occurred in the area of Highway 152 and Palm Avenue.

The Fresno Bee News reported the driver of a big rig traveling south on Palm Avenue attempted to cross eastbound Highway 152. Officials mentioned the 2018 Kenworth two-axle truck was pulling a set of doubles loaded with tomatoes.

According to the article published online, a 2021 Toyota Camry traveling east on the highway braked as it approached the crossing big rig. The driver of the Toyota, William Ainsworth Jr., turned left in an attempt to avoid the vehicle.

Our sources indicated the Toyota ended up crashing into the middle of the number two trailer. The force from the impact lodged the smaller vehicle underneath the truck.

After the collision, the operator of the truck pulled over. The driver immediately called for assistance after seeing the wreckage.

Rescue teams arrived at the location shortly after 8:40 p.m. Paramedics reportedly performed life-saving measures to the front-seat passenger in the Toyota, the elder Ainsworth, but he sadly succumbed to his injuries and died.

Meanwhile, the driver, William Ainsworth Jr., reportedly escaped death with major injuries. Paramedics rushed the victim to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for treatment and further evaluation.

Authorities added a third occupant in the Toyota sustained injuries as a result of the incident. Meanwhile, the truck driver appeared unharmed.

The California Highway Patrol continue to work at this time to determine the precise cause of the deadly car and truck crash on Highway 152 in Merced County.
