SALINAS (March 24, 2017)- According to KSBW, a man and a woman were struck by a DUI driver Thursday morning at 500 Work Street.
Authorities reported the incident took place at around 2:40 a.m. when the driver of a Ford Bronce driving on a suspended license identified as Jaime Garcia, 24, of Salinas, struck William Crabbe, 38, and Aliso Castro, 27.
Garcia’s vehicle veered onto the sidewalk causing fatal injuries to Crabbe as he was tragically pronounced at the scene.
Castro suffered significant injuries and was quickly rushed to a hospital and is currently be held in critical care at this time.
Meanwhile, police officials arrested Garcia and have since taken him to Monterey County Jail as it was confirmed that he was under the influence. He had previously been arrested multiple times for several offense including a DUI back in 2014 and was ordered to have had a breathalyzer inside his vehicle which was not installed into the Bronco.
