William Engbrecht, 90, Killed in Oxnard Crash at Channel Islands and Statham
OXNARD (October 16, 2019) – An elderly driver seriously injured after a traffic collision at Channel Islands and Statham boulevards Saturday has died.
Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the deceased victim as 90-year-old William Engbrecht, a resident of Port Hueneme.
Police said Engbrecht was driving a 2003 Toyota Tacoma pickup east on Channel Islands Boulevard when he attempted to make a left turn onto Statham Boulevard.

According to Ventura County Star, the truck then collided for an unknown reason with a 2005 Nissan Altima headed west on Channel Islands at the time.
Paramedics rushed Engbrecht to Ventura County Medical Center with injuries initially believed to be minor. However, he was pronounced dead Wednesday.
Meanwhile, medical personnel treated the 22-year-old Oxnard man operating the Altima at the scene for minor injuries. His name was not disclosed.
The cause of the tragic incident, which took place on October 12 at 12:35 p.m., remains under investigation.
