Man Killed in Pedestrian Crash in Central Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (May 7, 2025) – Fresno Police are investigating a fatal collision that claimed the life of William Haywood, 60, late Saturday night in central Fresno.

Officers responded to the area of Blackstone Avenue near Griffith and Saginaw Ways just before midnight on May 3, 2025, after receiving reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

Pedestrian Identified as 60-Year-Old Fresno Man

The victim, identified as William Haywood of Fresno, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, the driver involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. At this time, authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.

Detectives are working to determine the circumstances that led to the collision.
