Oceanside Man, 64, Killed in Labor Day Crash on Highway 76
VISTA, Calif. (September 3, 2019) – A 64-year-old man identified as William Lee Vinyard Jr., of Oceanside, has been identified as the driver killed early Labor Day morning on state Route 76.
The crash took place about 3:33 a.m. as Vinyard reportedly made a left turn in his Nissan Sentra against a red traffic light onto East Vista Way, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
An oncoming Jeep Wrangler heading eastbound on SR-76 collided with the man’s vehicle. Someone called 9-1-1 to summon the California Highway Patrol and Oceanside Fire Department where despite aggressive life-saving measures, Vinyard was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the 34-year-old driver who was in the Jeep complained of pain after the crash.
The California Highway Patrol is the agency handling the case.
