Williams Evans, 72, in Wheelchair Killed in Berkeley Crash at Shattuck and Bancroft
BERKELEY, CA (November 1, 2022) – A man in a wheelchair, Williams Evans, was killed after a crash in Berkeley.
The coroner’s office identified the 72-year-old Berkeley man as the victim of the fatal collision which took place last month.
The incident happened when Williams Evans was crossing Bancroft Way and Shattuck Avenue in his wheelchair in the city of Berkeley. At the same time, a dump truck was going west on Bancroft.
Victim Hit by Dump Truck
For an unknown reason, the vehicle hit him in the intersection. The Mercury News and KRON 4 News wrote that the accident occurred on October 20 at about 11:55 a.m.
Williams Evans sustained serious injuries while his wheelchair ended up damaged as a result of the collision. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he soon died.
Meanwhile, police said the driver of the truck stopped and stayed at the scene following the incident. The cause of the Berkeley wheelchair crash is still under investigation.
