Cyclist in Coma After Collision on Highway 20
Willits, CA (September 23, 2022) – A bicyclist suffered serious injuries following a traffic accident that occurred in the area of Highway 20 and Main Street.
On September 19, a collision between a man riding a bike and a car took place in Willits. The Redheaded Blackbelt News reported the cyclist was heading south on the highway when he beelined across the roadway. Subsequently, a northbound vehicle clipped the bike rider.
The force from the impact ejected the man from his bicyclist. Officials said the victim sustained major head injuries due to the crash.
Major Bicycle Accident Near Main Street in Willits
Shortly after 7:45 a.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. Responding paramedics immediately attended to the injured cyclist. An ambulance rushed the victim to a hospital in Santa Rosa Hospital. According to the article published online, the patient remains in a coma.
The other motorist involved in the collision did suffer any injuries.
Police shut down the crash site to give way to the investigation process. At this time, detectives continue to investigate the precise cause of the accident that happened on Highway 20 in Willits.
