WILLOWS (March 13, 2017)- According to KRCRTV.com, a fatal car accident caused by a DUI driver was reported Sunday morning on the Interstate 5 freeway within both northbound and southbound traffic lanes.
Authorities responded to the 3-car collision which took place at precisely 8:41 a.m. involving a 2002 Acura, a 2016 Toyota Rav-4, and a 2016 Honda Odyssey.
The driver of the Acura identified as Shawntre Tillis, 24, accompanied by passenger Dylan Covarrubias, 22, was traveling at a high rate of speed on southbound I-5. Tillis lost control of the Acura and crashed into the center divider before swerving back into the No. 2 lane where he collided with the Toyota driven by Chris Dyrdahl, 61, accompanied by passenger Jeanine Dyrdahl, 59, both of Washington.
Dyrdahl lost complete control of his Toyota and crossed over the center median into northbound lanes directly into the path of the Honda Odyssey driven by Isidro Garcia, 26, of Oregon. Accompanying Garcia was Fabian Garcia, 2, Yvette Sepulveda, 23, Emily Sepulveda, 18, Angeline Garcia, 4, and Amaiya Garcia, 5 months.
The crash tragically caused fatal injuries to both Isidro Garcia and Fabian Garcia as both were pronounced at the scene.
Meanwhile, the condition of Garcia’s passengers remains unclear at this time.
Both Chris Dyrdahl and Jeanine Dyrdahl were seriously injured and rushed to the hospital by ambulance following the collision.
Per the article, Tillis was determined to have been driving under the influence and was subsequently arrested at the scene. He faces serious charges and is being jailed at Glenn County Jail.
No details were provided regarding the condition of Dylan Covarrubias and whether or not he was injured.
