Motorcyclist Killed in Wilmington Crash Near Lomita and Van Tress
WILMINGTON, CA (May 2, 2021) – A crash killed a motorcyclist near Lomita Boulevard and Van Tress Avenue in Wilmington.
According to an article published by The Daily Bulletin, the tragic accident occurred on Sunday night. Officers reported the wreck at about 7:55 p.m.
The incident happened when a man was riding a motorcycle east on Lomita Boulevard in Wilmington. At the same time, a vehicle was going west.
Driver Turns Left, Collides With Motorcycle
Police said for an unknown reason, the driver then made a left turn onto southbound Van Tress Avenue. In the process, the motorcyclist and the vehicle collided.
The rider ended up thrown from his bike as a result of the collision. Firefighters along with the paramedics responded and pronounced him dead at the scene.
The name of the deceased victim has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the other motorist involved stopped and stayed at the site after the wreck.
Officials forced the road to shut down following the Wilmington crash. The cause of the fatal collision is still under investigation.
