Pilot, Passenger Injured in Crash into Soccer Field
WILMINGTON, Calif. (Sept. 25, 2023) — Two people were critically injured in a small plane crash into a soccer field Monday afternoon on Westmont Drive in Wilmington.
The solo plane crashed due to unknown circumstances around 12:53 p.m. at 401 West Westmont Drive, according to a report by the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The pilot and a passenger both suffered undisclosed injuries. They were still trapped inside the plane when firefighters from the LAFD arrived on scene.
They were extricated from the wreckage and transported to a hospital in at least critical condition, the report said.
There were no reported injuries to anyone on the ground.
The case remains under investigation.
