Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Winnetka Avenue
LOS ANGELES, CA (May 15, 2022) – A hit-and-run crash killed a pedestrian on Winnetka Avenue in the Winnetka neighborhood of Los Angeles.
According to the CBS Los Angeles and My News LA, the tragic accident took place on Saturday night. Officers reported the collision at around 9:30 p.m.
The incident happened on May 14 when a vehicle struck a male pedestrian for an unknown reason. The driver hit him in the 7600 block of North Winnetka Avenue.
Driver Hits Man, Flees Scene
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and then found the man in his 40s left lying on the ground. He soon died at the scene.
The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the man and fled the area.
The suspect later returned and ended up arrested for hit-and-run. Officers forced a stretch of Winnetka Avenue to shut down for a time following the hit-and-run crash.
The cause of the fatal collision is still under investigation.
