WINTERHAVEN, California (January 30, 2015) – A pedestrian was killed Friday morning when they were hit by a big rig truck and a car on the westbound Interstate 8 Freeway at the Winterhaven Drive off ramp, according to a dispatch by the California Highway Patrol.
About 8:26 a.m., CHP officers believe the pedestrian was struck by the vehicles due to a possible suicide. The drivers involved were a big rig truck and a blue Honda CRV. The Honda had front-end damage, according to the report.
Yuma Police were interviewing neighbors in the area to see if there were any witnesses or any additional information about what happened.
“This is a tragedy for the family of this person as they deal with such an enormous loss,” said Attorney James Johnson.
