1 Seriously Injured in Winton Crash at Central and Walnut Avenues
WINTON, CA (May 11, 2022) – A car crash left two people injured at Central Avenue and Walnut Avenue in Winton.
According to an article published by the Merced Daily, the accident took place on Sunday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at about 3:02 p.m.
The incident happened on May 8 when a white pickup truck was going south on Central Avenue, approaching Walnut Avenue, in Winton.
At the same time, a black sedan headed east was stopped at the intersection of Walnut. For an unknown reason, the 18-year-old man driving the pickup ran the stop sign.
Driver Runs Stop Sign, Hits Another Car
The California Highway Patrol said the truck then slammed into the driver’s side of the sedan. The two occupants of the victim car ended up hurt as a result of the collision.
Paramedics took the driver of the sedan to a local hospital for precautionary measures. Medical personnel rushed the female passenger of the same car to an out of area hospital with major injuries.
The report did not disclose the names of the wounded patients and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, CHP forced the area of Central and Walnut avenues to shut down following the wreck.
The cause of the Winton crash is still under investigation.
