Woman, 56, Killed in Crenshaw Boulevard Hit-and-run Pedestrian Accident

LOS ANGELES, California (October 11, 2014) –  A woman was killed Friday in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident in the 6300 block of Crenshaw Boulevard, according to a dispatch by the California Highway Patrol.

The fatal crash was reported to CHP officers about 9:45 p.m. in South Los Angeles. Los Angeles Police Department deputies say the woman was hit by the driver of a dark blue or black vehicle that fled the scene by heading north on Crenshaw. The fatal crash was caught on video.

Police say the woman was not crossing at a marked crosswalk at the time of the accident.  According to NBC News, the woman was identified by a relative as a 56-year-old grandmother by the name of Diane Dupree Phillips.

Police are heading up an investigation into the crash to determine liability.
