Woman in Wheelchair, 79, Killed in Santa Paula Nursing Facility Parking Lot Crash
SANTA PAULA, CA (October 1, 2021) – A woman in a wheelchair was killed after a crash in a Santa Paula nursing facility parking lot on March Street.
According to an article published by the KVTA News, the tragic accident took place on Friday evening. Officers reported the collision at around 7:46 p.m.
The incident happened when a vehicle was traveling at a slow speed through the parking lot of the Vista Cove Nursing Facility in Santa Paula.
For an unknown reason, the driver struck a 79-year-old woman in a wheelchair. The motorist hit her in the 200 block of March Street.
Victim Hit by Vehicle
The pedestrian ended up knocked out of the wheelchair as a result of the Santa Paula collision. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found her suffering from major injuries.
Medical personnel soon rushed the victim to the Ventura County Medical Center, where she died. Her name remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the woman. Officers forced the nursing facility parking lot to shut down for a time after the collision.
The cause of the fatal Santa Paula crash is still under investigation.
