Pedestrian Hit-and-run Crash on 5th Street
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (Oct. 3, 2023) — A woman was injured in a San Francisco pedestrian accident Monday night on 5th Street, just south of Market Street involving a hit-and-run driver.
The major injury crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. when a driver struck the woman around 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 2nd, according to KRON4.
Meanwhile, a second vehicle struck the woman again and she became trapped underneath. The second vehicle is described as a driverless Cruise autonomous car.
The San Francisco Police Department responded to the scene to investigate and the San Francisco Fire Department came to help the injured woman who sustained “multiple traumatic injuries.” She was extricated and transported to a hospital.
The uninhabited vehicle came to a stop and apparently “braked aggressively” to reduce the impact on the pedestrians, police said.
Investigators are working on the case to determine fault for the pedestrian accident on 5th Street.
Authorities closed down 5th Street between Market and Stevenson streets to conduct an investigation into what happened.
