shutterstock_78267379UNIVERSAL CITY, California (April 7, 2016) — A woman suffered a minor eye injury when a Universal Studios tram struck a painted sign at the theme park Wednesday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The woman was sitting on the sightseeing tram when its driver struck the sign and paint chips flew into her eyes. Responding firefighters were able to flush out the debris from her eyes within 10 minutes of arriving at the scene about 4 p.m. yesterday.

There does not appear to be any other injuries.

Universal Studios opened its new Harry Potter attraction today featuring two new rides and tickets are sold out. The theme park is one of several major attractions in Southern California that serve millions of guests every year. While these crowded amusement parks are generally safe for visitors, there are all types of accidents from slip and falls to major injury accidents that take place in these private facilities.
