Jose Luis Aguilar, 31, Arrested
SALINAS, California (August 23, 2016) – An elderly woman was killed in a suspected DUI crash in the area of East Laurel Drive and St. Edwards Drive Tuesday, according to KION Right Now.
As per the article, Salinas police said a 78-year-old woman had pulled onto East Laurel Drive from St. Edwards when she was broadsided by another vehicle.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
In a report by KSBW, police affirmed that 31-year-old Jose Luis Aguilar was allegedly high on methamphetamine and marijuana when his speeding Audi struck the Lexus driven by the female motorist at 11:57 a.m.
Aguilar, of Salinas, was arrested on charges of vehicular manslaughter and DUI causing death. He suffered a broken jaw and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
