Driver Who Ran Red Light Killed Granada Hills Woman, 41
ENCINO, Calif. (July 7, 2026) – Yaroslav Ponomarenko, 41, of Granada Hills, was killed when another driver allegedly ran a red light and crashed into her vehicle on Victory Boulevard at Lindley Avenue in Encino.
The crash involved two other motorists, a power pole was struck and wires were down. It occurred on Sunday, July 5th, about 6 p.m. at the Encino intersection, according to a Los Angeles Police Department report.
Authorities investigating the crash determined a 35-year-old woman was driving westbound on Victory Boulevard. The motorist reportedly drove through a red light and crashed into the victim’s car. Paramedics transported the woman to a hospital and it’s unknown if she was arrested.
Meanwhile, paramedics pronounced dead the Granada Hills woman dead at the scene. Firefighters extricated the woman from her vehicle using hydraulic tools.
Firefighters used hydraulic tools to free her body from the wreckage. The investigation into the tragedy is ongoing.
