Woman, 76, Attacked by Two Dogs Near Thomas Avenue and Kay Road
DESERT HOT SPRINGS, Calif. (Dec. 31, 2024) — A woman from Sinaloa, Mexico, who was visiting family in unincorporated Desert Hot Springs, lost part of her arm Saturday in a vicious dog attack at Thomas Avenue and Kay Road.
Two pit bull mix dogs managed to get under a six-foot tall chain-link fence by digging in the sand and attacked the woman on Saturday, Dec. 28th.
Paramedics responded and rushed the woman to a hospital where doctors amputated part of her right arm due to severe injuries from the dogs. She also had wounds on her other arm and legs as well as her ears.
Riverside County Animal Services impounded the two dogs and euthanized them. The animals were a 1-year-old male and a 4-year-old female and neither one of them were fixed.
The case remains under investigation.
“Vicious dogs are a danger to society,” said Attorney James Johnson, founder of Johnson Attorneys Group. “Victims of dog bite attacks typically suffer both physical trauma and emotional scars.”
