Woman on Scooter Killed in Oxnard Crash at Gonzales Road, Snow Avenue

OXNARD, Calif. (Oct. 27, 2026) — A 45-year-old Oxnard woman riding a scooter was struck and killed Thursday by a suspected drugged driver at Gonzales Road and Snow Avenue in Oxnard.

According to a press release by the Oxnard Police Department, the deadly collision occurred around 10:53 p.m. on Oct. 22nd, 2026.

Jan Marie Grissinger, 53, of Oxnard, was driving a 2014 Nissan Xterra eastbound on Gonzales Road when she struck the woman riding the scooter who was crossing the roadway. The driver reportedly fled the scene, but was later located at Raiders Way and Dallas Drive after she crashed into a fence.

Meanwhile, police located the injured woman in the middle of the roadway with her scooter nearby. She was transported by ambulance to a hospital, but later died from her injuries.

Detectives working on the case determined that Jan Marie Grissinger was allegedly under the influence of drugs. She was arrested on charges of manslaughter, hit-and-run, and driving while impaired.
